  • TESTIMONIAL FROM JACOB'S FAMILY

It has been nearly seven months since our son Jacob passed away. Although we never had direct contact with you, as you communicated with our daughter-in-law Jessie and Jacob's close Recon brother, Todd, the support you provided has been invaluable. The financial assistance from MRF helped cover the costs of our travel to Oregon immediately after his passing, accommodations, and food, allowing our family to be together during such a difficult time. It enabled an impromptu memorial with Jacob’s coworkers, and supported Jessie during her move out of Oregon. The funds also covered Jacob’s cremation and other arrangements we weren't directly involved with. We gathered again in Colorado for his official memorial, where we met Jacob’s platoon brothers, whose stories were a blessing to us all.

The total of $22,853 received was exactly what was needed for Jacob's arrangements, a testament to God's provision through the generosity of donors. We are profoundly grateful to Pep, MRF, and the Recon community for your incredible support during our darkest hours. Your efforts reflect a tremendous brotherhood and love, and we are eternally thankful. God bless you all!

  • TESTIMONIAL FROM THE ARSLANBAS FAMILY

We, Colin’s family, extend our deepest gratitude to the Marine Reconnaissance Foundation community for the profound support following Colin’s tragic loss. Immediately after his passing, we were assured of your presence by our side—a promise that was fulfilled beyond our expectations. The compassion and kindness shown by those we have never met has been a beacon during our darkest times.

It is challenging to individually thank everyone who has called, texted, written, prayed, or generously donated their time and resources, but please know that your collective actions have significantly lightened our burden, allowing us to focus on healing rather than logistics. Colin cherished his role as a Recon Marine, and now we truly understand why. The creed—never above you, never below you, always beside you—has been vividly demonstrated through your actions. We feel blessed by your generosity and know that Colin would be immensely proud. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

    With love and appreciation,
    The Arslanbas Family

  • TESTIMONIAL FROM MAX

A simple 'thank you' hardly seems enough for including us. Coming from outside the military world, Lali and I often felt out of place, yet paradoxically, it was during this trip that we found a profound sense of belonging. Despite our initial awkwardness, we left feeling safe, understood, and deeply connected, more so than anywhere else in our lives.

The luxurious setting, fascinating insights into the Recon community, and poignant activities like the tree planting for our brother, along with educational tours and delightful social gatherings, all contributed to this experience. However, it was the people we met—the families and fellow supporters—that truly transformed this journey into one of the most significant experiences of our lives.

Inspired by the Hindu philosophy that 'Death is but a change of clothing,' I realized that this transformation applies to us, the living, as much as to those we've lost. Alexi’s passing has deeply changed us, helping us to grow and connect in ways we never anticipated. In our loss, we’ve gained new brothers and sisters, turning grief into enduring love and connection. For this, and for the warmth and welcome we received, I am eternally grateful. Loss becomes love, and love sustains life, a transformation we will always cherish.
